What about a "GSP Maintenance" section.  I notice when someone new joins (like me) I am interested in the daily dealings with the GSP.  I have a lot of questions about Food, Crate, Toys... just the general everyday GSP things.  Maybe topics of the "what do you....... your GSP" could go here.  What do you think?

I was just thinking the same thing. Like a sticky thread for newbies. Things like what diet and feeding schedule expeirienced GSP owners recommend. What brands of food? Tips and tricks of the GSP trade. I'm very excited about getting my GSP (pups born about 2 weeks ago) and the more i can learn about GSPs and their optimal care the better!!

this is a great idea!!! it seems everytime we get a new member they ask the exact same questions over and over! A maintenance thread would be a good one to refer them too. In fact some of the postings on the general thread could probably be copied to Maintenance.

I agree, good idea, like a forum for the "new to the GSP" folks.

I am having a very hard time keeping weight on my gsp. He is 11 months old now. I feed him around 5 cups of purina a day, I have even started adding peanut oil for the fat in it. Does or has anyone else had this problem with their shorthair? He does not have worms, and takes a heartguard with wormer in it every month. Thanks.

Hi dukeben & welcome. Did you try posting that question in the "General" forum? A lot of people only read topics there. Which Purina are you feeding? The Pro Plan or the regular dog/puppy chow? If it's not the Pro Plan (or even if it is) he may need a better quality food, possibly with more meat & protein. I'm no expert, though, so you should definitely ask people in the "General" forum.

Would recommend a higher protein food. GSPs put atomic power to shame when it comes to energy. I use EVO by Natura (grain free too) but any high protein food should do the trick.
