Went by myself this AM after grouse, it was our opening day, what a pretty morning!! Lot of snow, never remember a snow this early, bad thing was branches hanging badly as it was a wet, heavy snow, was like driving through a tunnel down some gameland roads& many hitting the van, some downed:

Got to my spot, snowing pretty good, Jesse was having a blast when I let him out, his first snow!!

Everything covered

Hit the woods, wassn't long before Tara locked up, got a shot, but missed.(as if you had to ask.. )

Soon after Tara and Jesse were on point, heard 2 go, never saw them though, was thick & with branches hanging low, hard to see, this is where they were, couldn't even see the dogs on point.

Put up one other, Jesse pointed it (his first grouse point! To thick for a pic in the patch he was in though) Again had a shot and....well, you know.
After a while, Jesse was wet, cold and tired, so put him up & headed to another spot with Tara. Didn't walk long & noticed her watching us:

She was a biggun'!! Funny thing is, it was our early inline season opener....her I could have got!! Soon had another bird pointed(and missed):

Put up 3 others after this one, 10 total(best I ever did in my neck of the woods in 15 years!). Nothing but some pics of the great outdoors to show for our day, but it was a beautiful day to be in the woods. Working Sunday & heading back out Monday...maybe, just maybe I'll get lucky & hit one then! |
