Welcome to

Ok well Friday the weather was horriable and the winds where swirling and blowing 15+ when we where out prior to that was 60+ and pouring rain.Well we went walking on the trail on the dunes (wish I would have taken my camera as the waves where crashing over the dunes 30+ feet in places) and abby was sniffing through the bushes for the pheasants that live there and she went on point now i had her on leash by this point as we where less then 100 feet from the parking lot and so I walked up to her and out ran a pheasant hen she tried to chase it but was on leash so couldnt go too far but I praised her I was so proud of her.
Then today we took her out on her first grouse hunt and Ryan thank you for the advice I just shut up and let her hunt this was the first time she was off lead hunting with me and she did amazing she was hunting out in front of us and what we saw the most was her butt. She did great and was very very confident searching for birds we didnt find any but not totally suprised as its opening weekend for elk and so the roads where really busy with hunters.
Here are some pics when we stopped to get some pictures of an old logging steam donkey.
Flygirl my guess is the bandana is so the hunters can see her and not shoot her. They only had the tails looped once with no knot so it would come off easy if she got it caught. Since she is still growing I imagine the vests don't fit well.
Way to go Abby. Love to watch these dogs work.
I agree ditch the bandana, go to any outdoor store and pick yourself up a collar like this
You want the O-Ring. Usually they are not too expensive. The bandanna isnt going to help much, your dog is white so that should be a 1st indicator and if your dog is going to be shot its going to be by someone shooting at noise, they wont see the dog but just hear the noise so the red or orange isnt going to help you. If your in an area where your worried about your dog getting shot it might be time to find a new area. Most guys wont leave the road or far from it. If you can walk 10 or 15 min down a cut line you probably wont see anyone at all.
Acually there was 22 trucks just in the few hours we where out there and we went back and hunted over 22 miles back in there and off the road five miles.
