| Well, show Sunday went well, not alot of donations, but with this economy, we can't expect alot from anyone right now! I did get a nice looker at Dixie Chick! At the same time I was watching Dixie closely, because she was returned for growling at their 3 yr old son. I saw her handle the crowds and kids well, UNTIL two probably 3 yr old twins approached her and were sticking their hands in her face, mom was oblivious....and I was talking to the lady who was interested in Dix...Dixie kept backing up to me, until she was at a dead heal on my leg, then put my hand out at those kids and said STOP! I waved my fingers very close to their faces and said DO YOU LIKE THAT? They now backed off. And mom was allert finally. I showed them how a dog perceives that and how to approach a strange dog, and then brought Dixie back to them, no issues. The same lady interested in Dix, said her ex maybe interested in the big lug we are getting this weekend! That would be too sweet! I'm still searching for a foster for the Big Lug. Little Cam has a home visit Thurs noon, for adopters in IL. He has vet appt tomorrow night for continual liquid hershey squirts. Gotta get to the bottom of that quick. Got to meet our new puppy boy last night, whatta cutie! He already has an adopter too, for end of Oct after vet work. And heard from our vet yesterday, he breeds GSPs and had an unplanned litter of 7 four weeks ago. Two males already have homes, four females and one male left. So I'm putting the word out. They are Shooting Starr dogs. If anyone is interested? That's about all for now. |

well, I'LL BE DARNED! Miracle decided last night she wanted to play "toy", and she actually retrieved back to me! Doesn't exactly want to give it up, but at the end of a few fetches, she did hand it over! Guess she IS paying attention when I play that game with other dogs? She always acts like she wants to, but never does.... so I peaked her interest! Whoohhaaa! I never got outta my work clothes till after 7PM last night. First had the lady looking at Dixie stop with a friend. She is worried maybe Dix is a bit too busy for her. But seriously I told her, she DOES calm down inside the house. She was totally putting on a show with Jim last night, rip roaring in my small yard! So the lady wants us to come over Sunday afternoon see how she does there. My only worry is no fenced yard. THEN, Daisy's (Bella's mom and dad) came over to get a crate, cuz Daisy ate a cushion on their couch while left unattended for 40 mins yesterday. TOLD THEM SO!! So they trapse over with Daisy in tow, and she was sporting a new e-collar! But sounds to me like they have no training on ecollar, so I'm fearful of that. So I gave them some tips. Maureen was seriously gonna return her, but come on! You gotta cut them some slack and never trust a new dog right away! They were warned! tehe. Lucky she has a friend who covers furniture, so that cushion will be fixed. My dogs are on their last couch, I'm not buying them anymore! Three they have destroyed in my lifetime, and that is it. Mine all get locked up in crates as routine daily, even tho they probably do not need it, but I can't exactly lock one up and not the others, so they all get it, and that way I know how I left my house is what I'm coming back to. tehe. I'm making arrangements NOW to go get the big lug, O'Malley on Sat. Until I find my open foster Craig, guess I'm stuck with him. Would be way easier if Dix were home already. So we'll see how that goes, but the lady cannot think of taking her till 10/11 weekend anyhow. URGH. And I may have to puppy sit Barley that weekend, and I have a party at my friends, I am NOT missing, for dogs. So the wheel keeps turning... |

I feel like I never got a weekend at all! First I'm doggie sitting Buster while his fosters are outta town, I rilly like him, I feel bad for what his life must have been like before, but his foster folks have really done a great job with Buster and trust issues. He is an awesome boy! Sat AM I had to run to the north side of town and get OMalley, he is as gorgeous in person as in the shelter photo. Big, VERY strong boy. Very prey driven, will make an awesome hunter in my opinion. He did fine with my dogs, until Uncle Jared brought Buster back from hunt testing, and OMalley wanted to tear off Buster's head, and Buster would have liked to engage...so OMalley got crate time, till his foster dad came to get him (and Craig said OMalley went after his female too, urgh!) Had time to get floors cleaned and laundry done, but that's about all, cuz Sunday I had to hit the road with MY foster Dixie Chick for her home visit, very nice house, wonderful big property, no fencing, but I trust Dixie, so should not be a problem. She may go home Sat, we'll see. Then raced back home for folks to come see Buster, they want him, but are going on vacation end of the month, so wanted to pick him up when they get back in November. I said NO CAN DO, I need that foster space for the next one in. So they are gonna come back and get Buster next Monday, then we can Buster sit while they are outta town. Cam puppy went home yesterday AM. And I'm working on an owner surrender for Friday. Has great hunt potential, so he will go to our VP/hunt trainer Sat. Working out those details now. I'm also working on a Super Rally with all the WI ambassador's for Purina Rally to Rescue for end of April, stopped at our fav Petco Sat while waiting on OMalley's arrival, and we have some good location prospects now. AND late yesterday afternoon, I heard from Henry's adoptive mom, Henry slipped outta their yard, when one of the kids left the gate open or something, he was gone around 40 mins before they knew, and started networking. Henry is a liver/white pointer we got with EVERETT back in 2005, so now they are BOTH MISSING! Last sighting was of Henry on a nearby highway, two pick up trucks stopped, Henry jumped in one and is gone, gone, gone...no collar with id on unfortunately, but he IS microchipped. So we network and wait for whoever picked Henry up to turn him in. Everett will be gone two years Oct. 20th, no further sightings. I could use a nap. |

| Ok, got my spy for the KY adventure. Yeah! I'll explain when I'm able to break confidence. This weekend is another busy adoption weekend....Dixie Chick goes home tomorrow, Buster will head out Sunday, I have a new owner surrender male coming to my house tonight, just for over night, then his foster mom is picking him up tomorrow. I have a big bday party at one of my friends house tomorrow, for all her kids and grand kids born in Oct/Nov. My van is gonna be packed with hauling tables and furniture and stuff over there. I gotta start dealing with leaves falling around my house, and get fertilizer down on front yard. My ex is stopping Sunday to get golf car in the garage. And we are eligable for a WHOLE PALLET of Pro Plan for doing shows with Rally to Rescue, so made shipping arrangements for that this AM. That should tide us over for the winter! That's about all for now. Have a nice weekend everyone. |

Our jailbird, Maggie is missing this AM. Dang runners! I'm not happy, we are all at work, she is out there left to her own vises, could be miles away already! Dang! Was a busy week last week, buried my ex father in law, that was sad, I didn't even know he was sick! So took off Wed to do that funeralizing. Thurs ran to a shelter to grab a new female puppy, showed her to lookers that afternoon, they are declining a puppy at this time. Then Friday went to a local shelter to grab Tess who reminds me of my late Kate to the "T". Never a dull moment here. Barley puppy went home last week, all is good there. That's about all for now. |

| Nope, they have no clue where she is these days. Maggie was waiting on the front door step when the kids got off the school bus, so I ordered a new battery for the rescue loaner ecollar and am going there hopefully Sat to train Maggie and her new foster family on my laws. |

| I went out to her foster home Sat and took my Tritronics and check cord, and whistle. She knows what an ecollar is, and she responded to whistle commands! However, she did try to bolt and I cranked up the ecollar and nailed her, and violla, she came right back to us and stuck close after that. I gave them tips for inside the house to safeguard her bolting out doors for future. A member of this forum donated a Dogtra a few years back, and the thing was not taking a charge anymore, so I got new batteries on the way, now that I know her foster folks understand the way to use the collar with her! Hopefully they will be armed by the weekend. I had to trek to get old Outhouse Hannah last night from her adopters, my former volunteers. I say former, because last fall, they had a foster with them, and when a potential adopter looked at the dog, they emailed me with disgust that we'd show a dog in his condition? HUH? So I got in there to see my dog, and pulled him out. He was dirty, under weight, had an ear infection and urinary tract infection. After thinking about it further, went back to confiscate two they adopted. Left old Hannah there, as she was probably not adoptable in her elderly state. So the other day her dad emailed me he lost his job, they just had a SIXTH child, and they did not know if they could afford Hannah's vet work any more. So I went to get her. She is in sad shape, once again, neglected in my opinion. Hannah was found a year ago, tied up inside a men's outhouse in a forest preserve. She was almost starved to death by that point. We had all her vet work done and fosters adopted her. I guess a year ago, with her "story" we could have placed ole Hannah, but now, it will never happen. She is so very thin, her back end is not so good, she has little tumors around her eyes, they told me they were treating her for ear mites, but forgot to bring the meds. She was very gassy in my van, which told me they fed her crap. She found a rawhide in the back of my van and chewed that all the way back. So her teeth still work. At this time she needs updating of all shots. But I think we'll watch and wait for a bit with Hannah, because it might be in her best interest to send her on her way, versus sinking alot of money into her. No one will ever adopt her at this time of her life. The adopters vet thinks Hannah is about 13 yrs old. Such dilema's. Sometimes I simply hate dog rescue... My foster, Tess moves to another foster today, so I can make way for Bella and Daisy sitting. Miracle has been, well, it sounds like hyperventillating lately, I mean it stops her in her tracks! I have no clue what that is, freaking me out, so I'm watching her closely now. SHEESH... We have Marathon Co Rascal moving in tomorrow, he was owner surrender to shelter way up north, he is probably 5-8 yrs old. All foster homes are full. Sunday rescue is buying bird, so we can hunt test as many fosters as can attend. I think we have several hunters in the pack. That is always a good time, putting the dogs on bird, seeing what they got. That's all for now. |

Lisa,
You may still want to post Outhouse Hannah as needing a home with her story - you just never know as all it takes is a kind hearted person willing to give her a good, quiet, comfortable life for the rest of her days.

Hey Lisa, Very hard - I took in a 14 year old this year and just decided she'd be a resident here, but we have the ability to keep and care for them ourselves. She has a weak back end but we've seen her vastly improve with the activity in our house, things that used to send her off balance no longer do because she gets more activity here vs the home she left. She has potty accidents and we deal with them. But she will live out her days with us. |

Hannah's day is today. She cannot be adopted any longer. She needs a walker for starters, she falls over going potty, trying to walk outside, crashed into the patio door, she was very neglected her foster mom found fleas on her last night. So I emailed her surrenderers to bomb their house, cuz their kids may be sleeping on fleas, and they have cats, that probably haul them in. Nothing will change the fact that Hannah has to be at least 13, is blind, deaf and her back end doesn't work. I feel it's the best thing for Hannah to free her of her earthly chains now. So say a prayer, Hannah finds her way home today.
I gotta take Miracle to the vet today, she's still hyperventillating, lasts anywhere from 30 secs to a minute, and if she gets excited, happens all over again, it's not getting better, so what is more money? I gotta see what the deal is. I know my dogs are getting tired of sharing their home with other rescue dogs, cuz the second Tess left last night, the two of them got their toys out and Jim was flinging them high up and all over, and Miracle was game for fetch once again, until she started with the breathing thing... she acts normally every other way, eats fine, go figure... I have Daisy and Bella moving in tomorrow for the weekend. Then they will have a break till 11/22 when the next two for doggie sitting come. Have a new foster to check out hopefully this weekend, and our hunt testing goes forward on Sunday. Busy, busy. |

Our Outhouse Hannah
Unknown – 11/5/08
We got to know you for a year Hannah. When you were somehow left tied up in an IL outhouse to die, we could not leave you there, in the cold of winter to starve. We trusted your adopters to care for you, but alas, we don’t think they really did. Not that any of that mattered, because your life was over even then. At least you got a warm home to lounge around for your last year, and your belly had food in it. You WERE loved by all of us, even if you didn’t know it. When your adopters could no longer afford to properly care for you, we were there for you Hannah. We took you in and assessed your condition and watched you try to get around, with no eye sight, no hearing, bad back end, and we knew what your fate held Hannah. We stayed with you till the end, and we know where you are now there is no pain, no hunger; no more nasty outhouses to be abandoned in. You are finally home again our Hannah Banana. Until we see you gain, rest in peace. |

Yeah, we are feeling sad today but Hannah lived a long life, at least she got one more year. She could have died in that outhouse last fall.
I had to run Miracle to the vet yesterday, vet said she is reverse sneezing!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRnUIhxPtSM
Could be from allergies, so she calculated out the right amount of benedryl for her and she was better last night and this AM. Did have a blood panel run to check for infections, waiting for those results to come in today.
Got Bella and Daisy getting dropped off tonight, till Sunday. |

Well, we dropped $151- on quail Sunday and put eight rescues on bird, and we are eight for eight in the future bird dog planning! I was very impressed with all our kids! Even little Duchess was bonkers, she was flying over the weeds like a gazelle. She went to her new home after, and they wanted to return her already last night, but changed their mind again, cuz you gotta give them all more then just a day! Sheeshhh... I'm fosterless for the first time in a long time and I gotta try to keep it that way for my own dogs. I got home last night to stink coming from crates in basement! James Dean had a belly ache, crapped and puked in his crate, but is a smart boy and didn't get any on himself. Then he drank a gallon of water and barfed that up all over my living room floor. And THAT stunk too. He's eating crap again! I watched him this AM and he was right behind Miracle to scoop up on the fresh num-num, so he got yelled at and out came the pills to stop him. He did that last winter too, so here we go again. Danged dogs! |

WOW, was a three adoption weekend! And a possible fourth, before Thanksgiving! Yeah! Finally got out and cleaned my garage gutters and blew all the leaves into two nice pick up lines in alley, and next thing you know the cops are at my front door, seems a "neighbor" called to complain, the rows of leaves were blocking the alley? Hardley, they were way off to my side, in nice, neat rows the city picks up! Well, the cop said city no longer picks up in alley's, it all has to be moved to front of the house in the street for pick up. I said WHEN? She goes NOW! I said, I don't think so, took me 1/2 a day to make those nice, neat piles. So called my ex and he's coming over tonight to help me mulch them up to haul to front or to the dump. Good grief! If that guy across my alley would stay on his side of the alley, the piles would not be in his way! He parks his stupid truck on the slab, making it hard for ME to get into my garage, but do I call the cops on him? Heck no... always some drama you know... |

Well, sorry its been awhile, spent Thanksgiving weekend, getting the house battened down for winter, and Christmas crap up. We brought in two new dogs during that time. The young male came up from IL shelter, and the female was a surrender to shelter, I had been working on rehoming her directly from her home, but they ran outta time and gave her to a family member, who ran outta patience and gave her to shelter, where she was not happy. So Autumn is now out too. I have lots of lookers we are scrambling to check out. Went out to my van yesterday and one of the back tires is almost flat...so drove over to the shop, they put air in it, and I took off today to drop it there for a look see, OF COURSE, they tell me need four new tires, they tell me there was a tear in the side wall, cannot be repaired? I'm beginning NOT to trust these guys. So I said replace THE ONE tire, and that is all, for now. I'll talk to some of my guys about this, while I know all fours would ride nicer, who can afford all of them and toss out perfectly good tires? Assholes...they see a chick coming and they just want money. I'm really tired of that. This money was for Christmas shopping, dang it all anyhow! I still got Dixie Chick and her sister Lanie, till probably tonight, they have really been no problem, thankfully. I have my ex's sister's mix dog coming over holidays, I really don't care for that dog all that much, but she's no problem either, so what's one more for the holidays? I'm getting sick of snow already, yesterday we had some icy wet stuff, and my ex does the shoveling around my joint, and he does it his way, not the right way of course...so I spent time redoing what he did...but I"m not complaining, better then having to do it all! My work is moving locations by end of Jan, it's way further for me to drive, and I'm not happy about that, but I should not complain, at least I have a job! Blondie's folks stopped over last night for a couple check cords, so got to see her again. She looks fantastic, and nope, they won't be giving her back. Spent time on phone with Rascal's adopters, cuz he started displaying some of the scarey stuff he got surrendered to shelter for, so I told the adopter to back up the truck, watch, and have patience. He's only been there five days! Talked to a guy interested in Buster finally, but I don't really think Buster is the right dog for him, so Buster is gonna go do that home visit today. There is a three legger, female, all liver gsp in Spencer, IA I got my eye on, if I can direct an adopter to her? Never ends... And soon we'll have to get working on our recall training demo for Great Lakes Pet Expo end of Jan! We have to expand the demo from 20 mins, to an hour! So I'm planning to get all my trainers together after holidays to discuss what would be good to use up that time slot and make it really attractive! So much to do, so little time....
