| Got two outta same WI shelter this past weekend, scrambling to set up vet appts now. Both are around 2 yrs old. Female very afraid of people, male more sociable, can scale a fence, and open doors. I am amazed that little Daisy Duke has not been adopted yet! She is all of 35 lbs, 3 yr old, nice house manners, fine with other dogs, and kids, and cats! We are told she was a hunter, and I can see that in her. We have lots of wanna be adopters, but seems they all dragging their feet. I just want to scream, if we don't place this one, we can't vet the next one! But that's not gonna find little Daisy her new home. We have bird dog testing planned for Nov. 7th, gathering up interested folks now. Have the photographer coming out again for pix during this event. Gotta start working on our WGSPR calendar this weekend, and of course, more leaf clean up outside! I have Callie coming for a week of doggie sitting on Sat. Will be full house, as usual. Stay tuned... |

Ahhh, my nice, peaceful house back! I had Callie AND Daisy Duke here, until yesterday. I calculated, 96 toenails clicking my hardwood floors, was making me crazy! Poor things have taken a beating and keep on ticking, haha. I should be out blowing leaves outta my garage gutters, but that tree is hardly done shedding yet and I scrubbed all floors yesterday making my wrist, Joe almost broke, ache! So skip that, but the sun is out and I intend to get me some, before it's all gone. Daisy was adopted yesterday, and I'm so glad I waited for this adopter! She has experience, and Daisy has a 9 yr old brother now. All good! Jim got mail this week. Inside were more perfume samples (he loves rolling in them!) and a girly princess Halloween costume, my dad found at a rummage sale for him. So I appeased them and put it on him, and after laughing our heads off, took it off, makes him look like a fag! So we gave it to Callie when she went home! More suiting! Still got two dogs in rescue to find homes for. However, they are fostered so darned far away, I wonder if anyone will drive that far to see em? Have a couple in local shelters now to check out. We just need more foster homes. I think everyone is plumb worn out, including myself! So, same ole same... find me on Facebook! |

hmmm, where was I? Daisy Duke came back into rescue in less then two weeks. Her adopter called her a "project". She is the furthest thing from a project I know! She's supposed to go back out today. The fella saw her in the field last Sat, so he knows what he is getting...a girl fulla potential! I pulled a 6 yr old liver male from a local shelter on Sunday. He is a tad more of a project...but not too bad, just needs some manners, and is quick to please. I moved him to a first time foster/adopter Monday pm, cuz he was freaking my Jim out. And once Rugby was gone, Jim came outta the woodwork and was flinging his toys all over again! Trying to move Diesel down from his very northern WI foster home, but rides are scarce in that area. I just think we'll have better luck with him closer to the action, then lost in never-never land up there. We put rescue dogs on quail last Sat, I hauled Jim and Miracle along for fun. Jim is a horrible flusher, but I don't work with him, nor do I hunt anymore, so who cares really... Miracle surprised me once again, and locked on point at the bird pen! There are pix of her on www.wgspr.com this week. She was high pitch barking and turned red! I am serious...her eyes were red, her skin got red..I finally pulled her off point and put her in the van away from them, then she calmed down. So go figure, that little chick has it in her! hmmm. This weekend, I have to stay home, finish leaf removal, and organize the rescue office and stuff. Got my computer guy coming over Sat for dinner to see why my virus stuff shut off, hate it when that happens. Other then that, same ole same. |

Hi Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving! This will be another banner intake week for WGSPR! We have three new kids getting rides in this weekend, despite it being a holiday and all. Holidays never stop us! I talked my former VP into coming outta retirement to man the info emails for a while, as I believe the balls getting dropped on first responses. And a 1st responder is exactly what the cure for that will be! If we don't rotate dogs out, we can't afford to bring dogs in. So as the world turns. Last weekend I went over to Dixie Chick's mom's place. Pam has terminal cancer, and I wanted to get over there to see her before I miss my shot. I dragged our photographer friend, Peggy Morsch with, so Peggy could take pix of Pam and her dogs for her upcoming book called, Dogs and Their Women. You can read about that on Peggy's Blog spot: http://whatif-.blogspot.com/ If you page down a bit further, you can read about Mary and the late Rocky too! As the world turns again...Mary came for Daisy Duke, (aka the project) last week, and now the void has been filled, where Rocky left a big hole. Ahhh, I love it when a good plan comes together. I want to take this opportunity to tell you all how thankful I am, that you love GSPs and that you always have my back when the going gets rough. I am thankful for all of you and the friendship and support you have provided in every little way. gobble, gobble... |

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Can't believe it's been since Thanksgiving since I stopped in last! Well, never a dull moment you know. I quit smoking cigarettes on Thanksgiving...and so far so good. Just made up my mind, 30 year of abuse to my body is enough. Will miss you old cig friends...tehe. Nicotine addiction SUCKS. Anyhow, I'm planning a quiet holiday with my dogs, and whatever rescue dog lands at my house for the holidays. Will catch up more after that. |

| Over two months now, and I'm hanging in there! The I can sorta breathe again thing helps alot! Yesterday was our big annual Great Lakes Pet Expo, and so many other things are happening all at once of course. Lets see, my jobs, (busy,busy..), house, refinancing for better interest rate, switching insurance companies, kicked the cable company out for AT&T universe...gave the squirrels in the tree out back NOTICE to move, cuz I found a tree service to take the ole elm down for $800-! So with all the alley-mates I have, and if we all kick in, it won't be that huge of a deal... lets see, found out one of our adopted ones was living in this cold out on a chain with a hole in side of unheated garage to go in for shelter, cops checked it out for me, said good enuf, adopter called screaming at me to come get the dog, so WE DID. He is 20 lbs less then last time he was to the vet and was overdue for all his shots...so we got the big guy back and now he's 10 yrs old! Uhhh, got family issues, my kid brother who lives out of state has an eating disorder he is horribly thin, but is in denial, so there isn't a damn thing any of us can do until he's ready, and that rips my guts out minute by minute...it's hard to function most days! That Kentucky lawsuit thing still looms over me. We are pay close attention so there are no purebred GSPs in WI shelters right now. We had a litter of 4 pups come thru few weeks ago, of course, I always have a waiting list for puppies, so we only had them a week, till their vet work was done, then out the door they went. We gave two to IL Shorthair rescue, because we did not have ample foster space. I'd really like to get my hands on the mom and dad, so they don't have to live outside either... but I can only do so much. So figured I better check in with you all, let you know I do try to check in over on Facebook once a week or so, and do check my rescue emails daily...so if any of you need me, find me in any of those other locations, or call my cell phone! OH! We had some cute little blank notecards made, 15 4 $10- each one has a different doggie's photo on them...cute, cute, cute! email me if you want some! |

| Same old same...hopefully we are shaking off winter? I do hear more birds outside these days, whoohoo! Took down a big old ASH or ELM in the alley a few weeks ago, went networking in the neighborhood to find others that wanted to pitch in on the cost, and now I just have to do collections! I sorta miss that tree already. There is a whole lotta sky to be seen now. Perhaps my plants will like that full sun a whole lot better this summer? I know my garage roof will like the no mold factor! Jim will miss all the squirrels that used to skamper up over the garage roof to get to their nests. Can't say I didn't give them notice! ha! Miracle's 5th bday is Wed. Took her to the vet Sat for the yearly pin cushion deal, lordy, lord... $250 and that does not include her years worth of heartguard! I think I have to find a new vet, this is highway robbery...and I have to get Jim in next! Momma also needs a new exhaust on the ole van...so heaven help me! Busy planning our spring Purina Pro Plan Super Rally for a Petco location, 5/15. AFter that I start booking up till end of June with family up from Florida and such. I have rooms I want to start painting at home, I just need to stay home once in a while! All good! I catch many of you over on Facebook...way easier to just say it once and be off.... But I think of all you, often and hope you are well? |

| Glad to hear that things are going well, I like seeing your updates on FB. $250 w/no heartworm does sound like highway robbery, yikes! I can't believe little Miss Miracle is 5 already, wow! |

For those of you I do not see on Facebook, I lost my job after 16 years end of March. No warning, not much advance notice. No severance, no health insurance. Pretty much sucks. Thought I had a job in the bag already, but that job changed the job to a part time, no insurance gig...and I have a house, I have dogs, I have medical needs, I need full time with insurance, or I stay on unemployment as long as it takes. I have been so busy, between taking care of the house, family in from out of town, rescue shows, incoming, outgoing, etc.... I barely have time to look for a job! I still have my monthly association job, which gives me a couple extra bucks...but, hardly the same. We have the summer months booked with shows to show off dogs for adoption at. This weekend is our annual rummage sale. We are not getting very many donations thus far. We presently have a couple of dogs in WI shelters, both are not good with other dogs, so I really have no where to go with them. Always something....urgh. Hope all is well with you? |
